Almond Milk (vegan, gluten free, no added oils or sugars)

Updated: Jul 5

Avoid unwanted ingredients and save money with this simple & natural recipe

Almond milk is a great alternative for those looking to incorporate a plant-based milk into their life. It can be used in cereal, smoothies, baking, or just as a beverage you can enjoy on its own! However, some in-store almond milks available contain added sugars, preservatives, or other unwanted ingredients, and they can also be a little pricy. One solution to this is to make your own almond milk, and all you need is a blender, a strainer, almonds, and water! This cost-effective solution will allow you to enjoy great tasting non-dairy milk made with clean and nourishing ingredients, all without leaving the comfort of your own home!

1 cup almonds

4 cups cold water

1 tsp vanilla extract (for vanilla almond milk)

1 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder (for chocolate almond milk)

Step by step:

  1. Soak your almonds in room temp water for 6-8 hours (or 2 hours in boiling water) to allow to soften

  2. Once soaked and drained, place your almonds in a blender along with your cold water

  3. On a medium speed, blend the ingredients together until the almonds have been broken down and the milk has reached a creamy like texture

  4. Using a thin strainer (or nut milk bag) strain your milk into your desired container

  5. Store in an airtight container and keep for up to 4-5 days!

Tip: Save the almond pulp to use in smoothies or baked goods!
