Apple Pie Oatmeal (vegan, gluten free, naturally sweetened)

A cozy and sweet way to start the day

With caramelized apples, cinnamon, and comforting oats, this recipe is a great breakfast or snack idea for anyone looking to add some autumn aromas and a little sweetness to their day!

Note: This recipe is for one serving, so feel free to adjust the amounts accordingly!


1/2 cup oats (gluten-free if desired)

1/2 cup non-dairy milk

1/2 small apple (chopped)

1/2 tbsp coconut sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

Optional toppings:

1/2 tbsp flaxseeds

1/2 tbsp chia seeds

Drizzle of maple syrup

Step by step:

  1. Wash, dry, and slice your apple into small pieces

  2. To a small frypan on medium heat, add in your apples and allow to cook for approximately 3-4 minutes, de-glazing the pan with water as needed (alternatively, you can also melt some vegan butter on the pan before putting the apples in and allow them to cook in butter)

  3. After your apples have started to soften, add in your coconut sugar and cinnamon, and allow to cook for another 1-2 minutes

  4. While the apples are cooking, to a small saucepan on medium heat, add in your oats and non-dairy milk

  5. Stir together and allow to cook for approximately 4-5 minutes, or until the oats reach a boil and are cooked through

  6. When oats and apples are ready, carefully transfer them to a heat safe bowl

  7. Stir together, add any optional toppings, and enjoy!
