5- Ingredient Chocolate Granola (vegan, gluten free, naturally sweetened)

A healthy granola to bring a little sweetness to your day

Granola is great to have alongside fruit, as cereal, with yogurt, or as a topping for a refreshing smoothie! It can add a nice crunch and sweetness to whatever you put it on, and for some, it also works great as a snack when eaten on its own! This recipe is perfect for meal prep because it creates a large container of granola (that will be ready to use when you need it) but if you're looking to just try it out first, I recommend dividing the ingredients in half to start. That way if you love it- you can follow the amounts used in the recipe, or double those for an even larger batch!

Homemade granola is a great alternative to many of the store-bought options that can be found for cereal these days (especially the ones advertised to kids), because a lot of these options will have tons of added sugar, chemicals, preservatives, and more ingredients that can be really harmful to our bodies. That being said, there are definitely some brands that are being more mindful of the ingredients they use, and, we don't always have time to make our own granola! Here are a few of my go-to brands for granola/cereal when I don't make it at home:







4 cups oats (gluten free if desired)

1/2 cup cacao powder

1/4 cup coconut sugar


1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup maple syrup


1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips

3/4 cup walnuts (chopped)

1/4 cup chia seeds

1/4 cup ground flaxseeds


  1. Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the oats and cocoa powder, along with any optional toppings

  3. On the stovetop, or in a microwave safe bowl, combine the coconut oil & maple syrup until the coconut oil has completely melted

  4. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, slowly pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients, and stir together (making sure all the oats get coated)

  5. Pour the mixture onto a large non-stick pan and spread out the granola

  6. Place in oven for 20-25 minutes (until golden brown)

  7. Allow to cool

  8. Once completely cooled, store in an airtight container, and enjoy for up to 2-3 weeks!
