Oat Milk (vegan, gluten free, no added oils or sugars)

Save money and avoid unwanted additives with this easy-to-make homemade oat milk


Oat milk is my favorite non-dairy milk option, and, it is very easy to make, as it only requires 2 ingredients and 5 minutes to throw together! There are many benefits to making your own non-dairy milk (when possible), one of which is the important health benefits. Many store-bought options for both dairy and non-dairy milks include added oils, sugars, and/or preservatives, so making your own oat milk is a great way to avoid these unwanted ingredients and help your health. By creating your own milk, you are also saving money, and helping the environment by limiting plastic packaging!

Ingredients:


1 cup oats (gluten free if desired)

3 cups cold water


Optional:

1 tsp vanilla extract (for vanilla oat milk)

1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (for chocolate oat milk)


Step by step:

  1. Add your oats and cold water to a blender

  2. On a medium speed, blend the ingredients together until the oats have been broken down and the milk has reached a creamy texture

  3. Using a thin strainer (or nut milk bag) strain your milk and pour into desired container

  4. Store in an airtight container and keep for up to 5 days!

Tip: Save the oat pulp to use in smoothies or baked goods!
